The Graduate School “Human Development in Landscapes” at Kiel University, Germany (www.gshdl.de), which has been established as part of the DFG-Excellence Initiative, invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral position.
We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to conduct world-class research in the field of ancient DNA analysis.
The contract runs for two years or until October 31, 2017 (whatever occurs first), and starts as soon as possible. The salary will be at the level of TV-L 13. The position is assigned to the Medical Faculty.
Prerequisite is a Ph.D. in a discipline relevant for the project. An interest in archaeological questions is welcomed. Preference will be given to individuals with a solid publication record.
The applicant is expected to address research questions in Evolutionary Medicine, Anthropology/Archaeology with a focus on the genetic and genomic analysis of ancient DNA. Special emphasis will be placed on the establishment of a state-of-the-art ancient DNA laboratory, the development of enrichment and Next Generation Sequencing technologies (NGS) and the bioinformatic analysis of ancient NGS data. A good working knowledge of German is required.
The applicant is expected to participate in the supervision of PhD students and in teaching. The candidate will be involved in the development of the doctoral program of the Graduate School that provides an international and stimulating atmosphere for research into the interaction of humans and their environment.
