PhD project Mensch und Landschaft im südwestlichen Latium in der römischen Antike
Research interests Landscape archaeology. Geographical information systems (GIS), remote sensing, prospection and survey as methods of archaeological research, interdisciplinary approaches for a holistic understanding of past landscapes. Landscape transformation in the Roman World: Romanization, settlement patterns, landscape transformation by human impact, phenomena of cultural continuity and discontinuity, relations between towns and rural hinterland, transport, production and commerce, urbanism. Archaeological museology and ways of cultural communication. The role of archaeology for contemporary societies.
